Amtrak North

It was too early in the season to migrate north, yet I found myself on a train, tracing the California coast towards Oregon.

The Pacific Northwest is my Summerland, a sanctuary between worlds, where I can rest and rejuvenate my weary soul, and find direction for the years ahead.

When my sister and her husband needed someone to watch their dogs and property while they were away, I eagerly volunteered.

I planned to unravel the mysteries of the universe during that time. However, their vacation was tragically cut short when they were refused entry into their destination country.

With the world teetering on the brink of chaos, I found myself losing track of time, trying to find the signal in the noise. Like a monk in a cave, my perception shifted, and almost three weeks slipped by unnoticed.

Lingering in the comfort of family, I felt reluctant to step back across the threshold of life.
