When the hike out to the waterfall gives you blisters but you don’t care because you are going to be soaking in a mountain river all day… but there’s no water when you get there. You have to climb down into the canyon to drink from the puddles that still exist, breaking your tripod, and […]
Grand Canyon Railroad to Nany’s Tacos
Rode the Grand Canyon Railroad into Williams because I’ve never been there before, which is too bad because Nanys Tacos has the best tacos I’ve had in the US. Hiked a little ways out of town to camp for the night. A little close to the interstate but I don’t mind. #wandering #Arizona
From the Bottom to the Top of the Grand Canyon
Of course I hiked to the tunnel. Also hiked the ten+ miles and 5,700 feet in elevation up to the Rim in only three hours and fifteen minutes. Loving the Grand Canyon! #Arizona #wandering
Bottom of the Grand Canyon
Bottom of the Grand Canyon. Views, flowers, a mule train, and a strange looking piece of wood… that slithered by my tent. #wandering #Arizona
Descending into the Grand Canyon
The descent into the Grand Canyon along the South Kaibab Trail connected me to the Tonto Trail to take the long way to Indian Gardens, now renamed Havasupi Gardens where I camped the first night. Also, my phone is not an ax, fleas carry the plague, and my pack is way too heavy.
Stealth Camping Tusayan, AZ
This is the entrance to the Grand Canyon? It sure is, but without a permit I camped nearby and took way too many pictures of my tent. Not in a hurry to go anywhere, except the food in town is all super expensive. Supposedly it’s cheaper inside the park. Maybe tomorrow the Grand Canyon. #grandcanyon […]
Chillin at the Grand Canyon
Just chilling today, tomorrow I’ll hike #AZT
AZT to Tusayan
Pushed the last 26 miles into Tusayan to have McDonald’s earlier than planned. Only the jokes on me, the McDonald’s has been torn down. Had to settle for Wendy’s, and had to knock on the door to be let in since they close at 6pm on Sundays. But I got my burger. All is well […]
AZT through Coconino National Forest
A little snow, a beautiful birch tree forest and some views. 65 miles to go to one of the most expensive McDonald’s… #wandering #Arizona
AZT Flagstaff Loop
Last day hiking the Flagstaff Loop, spent the night up on a cliff with only just enough room for my tent. Really enjoying the hiking here. I’ve been out for five nights, time to go into town, do some laundry, shower and shave. #Arizona #wandering
