Summer vibes permeate lazy days… until your family decides that you need a couple of training hikes before you jump on the Pacific Crest Trail.
Our first hike took us up Mount Bachelor, standing majestically in the Cascade Range at 9,068 feet.
Then we explored Tamolitch Falls, also known as Blue Pool. Despite the falls’ seasonal flow, the underground springs kept the pool a vibrant turquoise, a stunning sight created by a lava flow from Belknap Crater 1,600 years ago.
The time of delicious, home cooked meals was coming to an end. I’d had my first taste of grilled pineapple, which paired surprisingly well with mac n cheese, but it was the mountains that I craved.
Thank you, Eva and Kenny, for pushing me to prepare, giving me memories to cherish, and for dropping me off in the middle of nowhere.
