It took two days to reach the southern most point of the Continental United States, only to then immediately turn around, hiking north on the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail. A new beginning, to see Florida again with fresh eyes.
Two days more of pounding pavement, back to the Seven Mile Bridge, where cars rush by only a foot away from where you stand. To your right a drop off into the ocean, and on your left, the rhythmic, meditative hush of speeding automobiles, providing you with a low grade Russian roulette feeling that heightens awareness while relaxing the body into the inevitability of one’s own demise.
Embraced by the daytime fog that lowers visibility and blurs the line between the blue of the ocean and that of the vast sky, I found myself surrendering to the formless base, the vaporous prima materia, as my physical existence began dissolving into the anima mundi.
In the midst of this ethereal moment, standing on a bridge without a visible beginning or end, one is humbled to exist within something so profoundly divine. Inspiring deep reflection on the intricate interconnectedness that binds us all, and igniting a spark of love that resonates within your very soul.
