After two weeks of lazy camping in Coconino National Forest it’s time to go do something besides daydream. Hiked into town to catch a train and for excellent fish and chips like I haven’t had since New England. Sure beats the cucumber and butter sandwiches I’ve been eating the last couple of days. #wandering

Walmart Utensil Strainer Wood Stove
VoilĂ ! Dinner is prepared! Steak sandwiches! And apparently I won’t have to shave my legs anytime soon, this Walmart utensil strainer as a wood stove has singed all the hair off. Makes me a little apprehensive to use, probably isn’t going to be a regular thing. #woodstovecooking #wandering
Something Ate My Charging Cable
Something ate through my charging cord while I was taking a nap. Haven’t been able to use my phone much for the last few days. Not sure if that’s a negative or positive? #lazydays #wandering
Ranger Roll Test
Thinking about getting rid of my tent. Slept in my rain poncho last night instead and it worked surprisingly well as a bivy. Hmm… Drop three pounds of comfort? Really sleep outside? #wandering #rangerroll
Camping in Coconino National Forest
I don’t do much camping, and by that I mean relaxing in the same campsite for almost a week. Usually I’m in and I’m out, finding a new place along the trail to sleep every night. But I thought I’d slow down and sit for a bit. Somewhere hidden and off trail. Maybe read a […]
AZT through Coconino National Forest
A little snow, a beautiful birch tree forest and some views. 65 miles to go to one of the most expensive McDonald’s… #wandering #Arizona
AZT Flagstaff Loop
Last day hiking the Flagstaff Loop, spent the night up on a cliff with only just enough room for my tent. Really enjoying the hiking here. I’ve been out for five nights, time to go into town, do some laundry, shower and shave. #Arizona #wandering
AZT Flagstaff
I love hiking through tunnels! And Flagstaff is quickly becoming my favorite hiking destination #tentcamping #Arizona
Walnut Canyon National Monument
Short 15 mile hike for the day so I added some miles around Walnut Canyon. Met a couple of other hikers out doing the same loop around Flagstaff and a couple others taking it slow, otherwise, for camping only seven miles away from town I may as well be in the middle of nowhere… except […]
Fisher Point Cave
Decided not to hike the 30 miles south to Mormon Lake for pizza. They may or may not be open yet for the season. Instead I’m hiking the AZT loop around Flagstaff. First day was only to Lake Mary Valley and up to Fisher Point where I spent so much time looking at the view […]
