Middle of the night, middle of nowhere, I find myself between trails, at a Circle K high on the wind swept plains, deep in the heart of the Arizona Painted Desert.
These intervals between trails provide a precious opportunity to reconnect with some of my favorite people, to help out with projects around Tiny Thorn Homestead. A year has come and gone, with four new sheds built, fencing, and the roof repaired on the dilapidated shed that came with the property. Once filled with Tupperware containers full of outdated food, it is now a tool shed, decorated with those same Tupperware lids.
Next year we’ll build the hammocks that allow friends and family to immerse themselves in a star-gazing experience that blends the tranquility of hammock camping with the artistic charm of a whimsical, post-apocalyptic dreamscape. Where every hammock is a front-row seat to the magic of the universe…
Or at least that’s the idea.
The past is gone, the future not yet arrived, and in between I sit, dreaming under the desert stars, wondering how would it feel if you lived a life without worry or expectation?
