It has been nearly seven years since I last published anything. In that time, I’ve wandered across deserts and mountaintops, lived out of my backpack, slept under the stars, and completely lost track of what it means to sit still long enough to write a book.
The truth is, life has been both amazing, and thoroughly distracting. Somewhere along those many miles, filled with late-night journal entries, and days spent dreaming with my eyes open, I built out these storylines enough that it was easy for me to get them into print as soon as I found the time to sit down and work.
I’m proud to announce the release of not one, but two new books, both now available on Amazon Kindle.
Necronaut, a gothic, genre-bending mystery with a psychedelic soul has been on my mind for almost a decade.
Set in post-WWII America, Necronaut follows Gretchen Larimer, a quiet file clerk who moonlights as an anonymous writer of surreal tales about traveling beyond death. Her stories, printed in secret from her garage, suddenly become terrifyingly real when her employer, a death-obsessed billionaire, announces he’s about to do exactly what she’s been writing about: leave his body and return from the other side.
Thrust into the center of an experiment gone wrong, Gretchen finds herself racing to stop a corporate hijacking of the afterlife.
Eyebrow Cat is a little more lighthearted. This is the first book in a brand new cozy mystery series, subtitled: Eyebrow Cat and the Truth Beneath the Tide
Set in the haunted coastal town of Bitterbreak, Eyebrow Cat follows sixteen-year-old Lila Morgan after she inherits a very unusual cat, Archibald, whose dramatic eyebrows twitch whenever someone lies.
What starts as an amusing party trick quickly turns serious when a tourist turns up dead, and the town’s buried secrets begin to resurface. Lila and her grandfather, the local sheriff, and the town’s most unlikely feline detective must unravel a decades-old mystery… before the past claims another victim.
If you love atmospheric small towns, intergenerational sleuthing, and magical animals with a mind of their own, this one’s for you.
Why Now?
Living in Cancun, Mexico, writing and devoloping ideas that I’ve had bouncing around for far too long, is an opportunity for which I am extremely grateful. While I miss trail life, the ability to finally put my ideas on paper, to see books being published, feels good in a way that I haven’t felt in a long time.
So if you read cozy mysteries, love magical realism, or are just curious about what I’ve been working on after all these years… I’d love for you to take a look.
Thank you for reading, for supporting, and for wandering with me.
