Among my top three items in any Bug Out Bag or Get Home Bag is always the All Weather Blanket. For me it is more than just a durable heat reflecting blanket. It is also a tarp and a ground sheet.
This video is shot in Foxboro, MA. The All Weather Blanket was purchased at Walmart.
This All Weather Blanket has only the 4 corners with the grommets, but I tend to do a simple A-frame setup. You could run a ridge line but I like having grommets. This is easy enough to fix, add Gorilla tape and put in grommets from the Harbor Freight DIY kit which is less than $4.
Personally I like using the bungee cord for a no knot setup, its quick and sometimes I just stake out the other end when I’m sleeping on the ground.
This All Weather Blanket weighs 10 oz, and it measures 5 x 7 feet, which is small for a tarp for a lot of people but it gets me by. Again, I have used this as a replacement for my sleeping bag in southern Florida, it wasn’t the best exprerience but it got me through.
The Grabber All-Weather Blanket, available at Walmart, comes in a variety of colors which can affect the price. Rothco makes a version but it’s twice as expensive as the ones available from Walmart.
Grabber also sells a version that they call a poncho. It has a hood sewed onto one end so it can more easily be worn. The problem is that it is also a foot shorter, 5 x 6, so not much of a tarp option despite the hood.
To find the All Weather Blanket which can be found for as low as $8 at Farmandfleet.com, Walmart.com or on Amazon type All Weather Blanket in the search box.

Always useful. We always carry one and we have had to use it before.
