Got here just before 3pm. Planned on staying until close and camping nearby. The waitress said that behind the restaurant is all national forest land but I’m also welcome to sleep on the front patio area if I’d like.
So, cow attack story?
I was cowboy camped across s-22 on Feb 28th. On a slope but behind enough low bushes that I was invisible in every direction. Voices from the trail woke me in the morning. More geocaching hikers. After they’d moved on I’d packed up, and just as I was beginning to think about stripping off my base layers I caught up to them.
They were just going to Warner Springs but now I’d have to get well ahead of them in order to strip in private, risking sweating in my base layer. Worse, the trail dropped down into a low, rolling grassland. The PCT a barren strip of earth across the field of green. There they’d be able to see me from a long ways off.
(And then apparently I never finished typing this into my phone…)
