Granted, sleeping in a bivy is not for everyone. Personally I love it. Just being that close to the ground immediately puts you out of sight for the night. Which is super important when stealth camping.
I’ve used a few different bivies over the years, the Marmot Alpinist Bivy (wrong color and condensation issues), the REI Minimalist (a lot of condensation) and off and on the US Army Bivy (way too heavy for your average hiker).
Lately I had been stealth camping while working to put some travelling money away and despite its weight I found the US Army Bivy to be exactly what I needed to keep me hidden without feeling claustrophobic or otherwise suffering through condensation issues.
Even though I trust the rugged Gore-Tex shell that makes it so heavy I always use it in conjunction with a ground sheet to save on the wear and tear of the bag itself.
